There's a Lot to Like

So why is Round Rock such a popular city lately? Well, there are plenty of great things about the city. And if you ask 20 different people, you'll probably get 20 different lists. Here are five things we like about living here:

  1. Good Schools — We have an entire page dedicated to Round Rock schools, so we won't repeat that information here. Just know that the local school system has a solid reputation with performance numbers higher than the national average.
  2. Lots of Activities — Regardless of how you define "fun," you can find plenty of it in the Round Rock area. Like the water? You'll be happy to know there are hundreds of miles of lakes and rivers in the area. Like sports? There's a massive sports complex at Williamson County Regional Park: eleven soccer fields, eight tennis courts, six basketball courts, two softball fields and more. There are also many hike-and-bike trails throughout the area.
  3. Great Shopping — Drive a few minutes south and you have access to the eclectic local shopping scene of downtown Austin. But you don't even have to leave Round Rock for good shopping. There's a new IKEA store in town, the Round Rock Premium Outlets, and many other shopping venues.
  4. Improved Infrastructure — Texas spent a lot of money on highway improvements over the last few years, and much of this took place in the greater Austin area, including the city of Round Rock. As a result, the traffic situation in Round Rock (which used to be a nightmare) has improved considerably — and it continues to do so.
  5. Real Estate Value — The local real estate market is an active one. Even when other housing markets in the U.S. where screeching to a halt after the subprime mortgage crisis, Round Rock (and the surrounding area) was holding strong. Home values have remained consistent in the area, which is one of many reasons to consider Round Rock from a real estate angle.

People Are Talking About Round Rock

You know those lists you see on websites like MSN and Yahoo that rank top places to live in the U.S.? Well, Round Rock has been popping up on those lists quite a lot recently. Here's a recent example. Entrepreneur.com published a list in 2008 of "Best and Worse Places to Buy a House." Round Rock appeared at the top spot on that list.
